My cat is 5 years old. I found her outside about 4 years ago. We lived in a nice size town home for about 4 years, where she was an outdoor cat. Recently I have had to move into a studio (500 sq ft) the studio has a nice patio. I'm worried that there are too many cars around, and I'm scared for her safety, so I do not let her outside. I would like her to stay on the patio with me, and we have tried this, but she runs away every time, and I go out looking for her. Are there any realistic suggestions to keep her happy and give her the chance to be outside. She has already ripped through my screen door, so even that doesn't keep her home.

Converting an outdoor cat to indoor cat is difficult.
You are doing the right thing by attempting to keep her inside away from all them cars.
If she can cut through screen doors, what about plastic.metal chicken wire. I have NOT done but seen many apartments that have a balcony screen off the balcony from top to bottom. You mention it is a patio though, is there a way to attach the wire to the patio?
I have also seen people attach boxes to the outside of their window so their can can “be outside” and safe inside. You can also get a perch so they can be at the window. Just make sure you replace the screens with METAL screen material and not nylon.
Of course, before any modifications, check with your landlord if applicable.
Good Luck
